The Meeting Tax
Every meeting has a cost. Most meetings have negative ROI.
The Meeting Tax is a silent margin killer.
A one-hour meeting with 10 people is not one hour. It is 10 hours of collective human capital burned on the altar of coordination. If your scaling strategy requires more meetings, you aren't building a company; you're building a bureaucracy.
Real multiplication happens asynchronously.
The Default to Async
Most meetings are really status updates. Status updates should be asynchronous. Use Loom. Use documents. Use Slack threads. Reserve synchronous time (meetings) for decisions that require real-time debate.
The Standing Meeting Trap
"Let's schedule a weekly sync." This is the beginning of the end. Standing meetings metastasize. They fill with agenda items that don't matter because "we have the time anyway." Kill the standing meeting. Replace it with on-demand decision meetings.
