Complexity is the Enemy of Profit
Entropy increases with scale. We must subtract to grow.
Scale creates Entropy.
As companies grow, they naturally accumulate:
- Communication Debt (More meetings).
- Subscription Debt (More tools).
- Bureaucratic Debt (More layers).
Most founders try to solve these problems by adding more. More tools, more hires, more features. This is Additive Bias, and it is the fastest way to kill your margin.
Subtractive Optimisation
Most founders try to solve problems by adding things. More features. More hires. More tools. This is "Additive Bias." It feels like work, but it creates debt. A Sovereign Advisor looks for what to remove. Which tool is generating noise? Which meeting is destroying flow?
Friction is a Feature
We mistakenly remove friction from everything. But some friction is good. Friction in the hiring process filters for A-players. Friction in the sales process filters for high-intent buyers. We remove the bad friction (technical debt) so we can keep the good friction (standards).
